Abstract

The philosophical project formulated by the contemporary French philosopher Paul Ricœur is considered one of the most important and influential contemporary philosophical and intellectual projects. It has the ability to make philosophical discourse a space capable of absorbing and discussing various issues of contemporary humanity in all its dimensions and complexities. Philosophy under Ricœur's vision advocates for humanity in its broadest sense, encompassing its plurality in terms of language, ethnicity, race, and cultural richness, regardless of its ideological, religious, racial, or social references.

Ricœur's concept defines a distinct vision of identity with all its components, making human identity achievable only through difference and diversity. The self is mirrored in the other, as the other witnesses the existence and uniqueness of the self. This calls forth various values of tolerance, dialogue philosophies, and even philosophies that advocate for conflict, with Aristotelian friendship values at the forefront. Ricœur opposes all forms of conflict and exclusion and rejects any form of discrimination against humans under any banner or pretext.

His philosophy advocates for coexistence, living together, through his support for the rights of minorities worldwide and many liberation issues..
