Abstract

We have attempted to research the values of citizenship, its conditions, and its role in political participation, taking Algeria as a model. This was done by studying citizenship and its prominent role in political participation, which is the ultimate goal in all political, economic, social, and cultural development plans. Additionally, we focused on supporting citizenship and political participation as criteria for sustainable and human development for all countries. We studied concepts related to citizenship, the historical evolution of civil society, which has contributed and continues to contribute to building the values and foundations of active citizenship. Then we divided citizenship and its criteria, the duties of citizenship followed by citizenship rights, researching the duties and rights of citizens and the transgressions that may affect them, and defining political participation, followed by political participation in Algeria.
