Abstract

The article presents the efforts of researchers Paul Ricoeur and Haj Saleh to highlight the duality of langue and speech in light of anthropological interpretations and linguistic explanations. Paul Ricoeur presented a logical conception of the duality of langue and speech according to the theory of rhetorical interpretation for human thought, and the Algerian linguist Haj Saleh defined the equivalent limits of this duality according to the foundations of situation and usage, and results were drawn, including: There is a relative agreement between the dualisms of language and speech according to Ferdinand de Saussure, the situation and use according to Haj Saleh, and text and discourse according to Paul Ricoeur, but this agreement does not eliminate the difference between them in terms of reference, method and purpose
