Abstract

The use of the term diagnosis is usually associated with medicine, and diagnosis is the art or way in which it is possible to identify the origin, nature and type of disease, and the diagnosis process is a complex process that crystallizes the results of the long and complex examination process. In the medical field, there are currently no medical tests such as brain scans, The Census of Mental Disorders issued by the American Psychological Association, (APA) The first reference in the world in the classification of mental, psychological and communication diseases. Autistic disorder has received its share of study and research, starting from the issuance of the third edition in the year (1980) and reaching the fifth edition in the year (2013), where the diagnostic criteria are updated every 10 years. Each new edition takes there is a wealth of scientific research and results, and by dealing with the subject of autism, we have tried through this research paper to address what the fifth edition of this guide contains regarding the definition of this disorder. And the criteria adopted for diagnosing and classifying it. We also tried to address the most important programs used in treating autism spectrum disorder.
