Main Article Content
Abstract
The study aimed to reveal the extent of the contribution of mental habits in predicting creative thinking among third-year
high school students, in addition to knowing the level of both their mental habits and creative thinking.
To achieve the study's objectives, we used the descriptive approach and selected a random sample of 160 male and female
students from some high schools in the state of Ain Defla (Algeria). We applied the scale of mental habits by Al-Djbouri (2012)
and the scale of creative thinking by Esayid Khairallah (1981).
The study showed the following results: There is a high level of the following mental habits: finding humor, perseverance,
listening with understanding and empathy, striving for accuracy, applying previous knowledge to new knowledge, thinking and
communicating clearly and accurately, gathering data using all senses, and an average level of mental habits: controlling
impulsiveness, questioning and posing problems, responding with astonishment and awe, flexible thinking, creativity -
visualization and innovation, daring responsible risk-taking, complete readiness for continuous learning, and their level of
thinking beyond cognitive and low-level exchange thinking.
There is an average level overall of creative thinking among third-year high school students. Mental habits such as
questioning and posing problems, perseverance, and flexible thinking contribute to predicting creative thinking among third-year
high school students.
