Abstract
The concept of commitment has emerged in the Arab literary scene, particularly in the context of engaged literature as envisioned by Sartre. The Arab intellectual landscape witnessed extensive debates, especially in the second half of the twentieth century, often taking on ideological dimensions due to the rise of diverse intellectual currents with various origins and orientations.
