Standards for the protection of the rights of migrant workers within the framework of general human rights conventions

Abstract

Considering that migration is a social phenomenon with a humanitarian dimension, the issue of finding international protection for migrants was raised by
the international community, which in turn recognized a set of basic rights for this category, especially migrants who work outside their countries of origin
The United Nations covenants in the field of human rights are of particular importance, due to their universal nature, in addition to the status that the
international organization still enjoys despite attempts to weaken it, as these covenants have guaranteed effective protection that benefits all people, including
migrant workers when they are in countries of work. In order to highlight the importance of these covenants, this study addressed the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights of 1948, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966.
