Fundamentals of the renewal of Arabic grammar according to Shawqi Dhaif through his book "Renewal of Grammar".

Abstract

The call for the simplification and renewal of Arabic grammar is not a phenomenon of modern times; rather, it began with early linguists after the appearance of Sibawayh's book. Margins and commentaries to the book appeared to explain and clarify difficult concepts for its readers. Subsequently, other calls were made for the need to abandon many issues that made grammar difficult for its learners, such as the theory of agents and causes. This call was made by Ibn Mudaa al Qurtubi in his book "The Refutation of the Grammarians".Later, Mostafa Ibrahim published "Reviving Grammar" in which he called for a reconsideration of many issues. Then Shawqi Dhaif wrote a book called "Renewal of Grammar" in which he argued for adding some points to grammar and abolishing others.
