Abstract
This article explores the role of virtual museums in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. With advancements in digital technology, virtual museums have emerged as significant tools for safeguarding historical artifacts, art, and intangible heritage. They offer unique opportunities for broader access, allowing global audiences to experience and engage with cultural heritage that might otherwise be inaccessible due to geographical, economic, or political limitations. This study examines the technological features that enhance user interaction, the role of virtual museums in education, and their potential to foster cultural appreciation across diverse populations. Through a review of current practices and case studies, the article highlights how virtual museums
contribute to the protection of cultural identity, the democratization of knowledge, and the sustainable preservation of heritage. The findings suggest that virtual museums are not only effective in preserving cultural heritage but also play a crucial role in its appreciation and continued relevance in the digital age.
