Abstract

This research paper deals with the study of the employment of evidence in literary commentaries, through the book “Anwar al-Tajalli ala ma tadamnanhu qasida al-Hilli” by Ubayd Allah ibn Abi al-Qasim al-Tha’alibi (d. 787 AH), and seeks to clarify the importance of evidence in this commentary, and how to employ it in it, as the commentator has paid great attention to evidence, especially poetic ones, which is what made The explanation is a rhetorical and critical corpus that needs to be studied, and to clarify Al-Tha’alibi’s approach in employing his evidence. The research has concluded that Ubayd Allah Al-Tha’alibi has monitored a large number of diverse evidence, and has taken it out of the stereotypical and rigid nature that characterized the evidence after Abd Al-Qahir Al-Jurjani, to the literary nature of appreciating the evidence and clarifying its aesthetics. The evidence is the standard for comparison between the commentaries, and Al-Tha'alibi's evidence represents a corpus that carries the author's critical and rhetorical opinions, and images of the reality of literary criticism in the Marinid era.
