The Impacts of The War in Gaza on Global Food Security

Abstract

Since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip has been subjected to a large-scale Israeli aggression targeting Palestinian civilians, causing widespread destruction to the civilian population,their properties, and vital facilities and infrastructure in the Strip, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and human rights conventions. This research paper addresses the effects of this war on food security in the Gaza Strip in its four dimensions: food availability, food accessibility, food utilization, and food stability. The paper also studies the impacts of this war on neighbouring countries through using various reports issued by governmental and non-governmental organizations. It was concluded that the ongoing war in Gaza has exacerbated the food insecurity crisis that reached catastrophic levels, the effects of which have extended to neighbouring countries.
