Using single-case design to develop social skills in children with autism spectrum disorder

Abstract

The current study is aimed to develop the social skills of autism spectrum children using the semi-experimental Single Subject Design. The study sample was chosen deliberately: one individual n = 1 with mild autism spectrum disorder taught in a special section attached to a primary school, and we used the social skills scale before applying the individual training program. By multiple measurements of the study variable according to sequenced periods of baseline stage
A and treatment phase B and based on Visual Analysis of the data with the determination of the Percentage of Nonoverlapping Data PND, the percentage exceeding the median PEM and the Improvement rate difference IRD as well as the application of Mann-Whitney Tau U test. Accordingly, we have concluded that the individual training program is effective.
