Main Article Content
Abstract
This research paper aimed to identify the level of emotional intelligence as cognitive abilities
in its three dimensions according to the (Mayer & Salovey) model, which provides
predictions about the internal form of intelligence through three tests: the conceptual,
relational, and developmental tests among preparatory stage children (4-5 years). It also tried
to detect differences in the emotional intelligence of these children according to the variable
of gender. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the emotional intelligence scale
prepared by Dr. Afaf Owais 2006 was used and applied on a sample of 26 boys and girls, and
the results of the study showed the following:
1. The level of understanding emotions among children in the preparatory stage (4-5
years) is average .
2. The level of awareness of emotions among preparatory stage children (4-5 years) is
low.
3. The level of emotional management among preparatory stage children (4-5 years) islow.
4. The level of emotional intelligence among preparatory stage children (4-5 years) is
average .
5. There are no statistically significant differences in the level of emotional intelligence
among children of this stage preparatory (4-5) years due to the gender variable,
male/female, in the total intelligence score concerning emotional and the three
dimensions: understanding emotions, perceiving emotions, and managing emotions.
