Abstract

The phenomenon of divorce is one of the ancient and modern social phenomena, which attracts
the interest of many researchers in the field of human and social sciences, due to its negative impact
on the values and social bonds that family structure seeks to preserve, especially in urban Algerian
societies. At present, there has been an acceleration in divorce rates even in traditional
communities, which are supposed to have social immunity. This raises questions about the
sociological determinants behind the spread of divorce in traditional rural communities. This calls
for sociologists to investigate the factors contributing to the prevalence of divorce in these
communities.
