Abstract
This paper investigates the viability of intelligent translation in comparison to the expertise acquired by translators through their academic training. It delves into the significance of theoretical grounding in translator education, along with the requisite competencies and multifaceted roles assumed by translators. Using a qualitative method, the study collects samples of sentences and paragraphs extracted from The Guardian, a British newspaper, each presenting distinct translation challenges, subsequently subjected to translation by GBT Chat. In parallel, these samples are translated using various methods and techniques to address translation issues. The findings highlight the pivotal role of translators and their education in producing precise and culturally sensitive translations that resonate with both the source text and the target audience. Additionally, the study underscores that smart translation serves as an aid to translators rather than a substitute, complementing their work.
