Abstract

In order for the development process to achieve its goals, it must originate from the citizens themselves. Citizen participation in the development project is tantamount to positively driving the development itself and ensuring its success in the future. Given that the role of civil society in sustainable development is the subject of our study, we relied on the indicators and the United Nations 2030 Agenda framework, based on the principles of the relevant declaration. The issue revolves around the criteria outlined in the 2030 Agenda concerning the role of civil society in achieving and implementing the sustainable development plan, including:

  • How to build capacities and manage diverse resources.

  • Transparence and participation alongside state institutions.

  • Mutual accountability of partners, represented by responsibility, accountability, and proposed alternatives or solutions.
