Abstract

When the administrative judiciary was established in Algeria in 1996, it was comprised, at its apex, of the Council of State, whose judicial powers combined the task of evaluating the work of the administrative courts and the task of adjudicating exclusively specific disputes, acting as a final judge of first instance. Administrative courts, which are the basic bodies of the administrative judiciary and have general jurisdiction over administrative disputes, were also established.
