Abstract

The Touat region is considered an open-air museum, boasting archaeological landmarks unparalleled in other regions. This is due to its central location on the most important trade route linking Sudan in the south with the capitals of the Islamic Maghreb in the north. This route carried both wealth and knowledge, and as such, we find the emergence of several commercial and scientific centers there, such as the ksours of Tamantit, Bouda, Timi, and the Zawiya of Konta .
